A robot solved the Rubik’s Cube faster than blinking an eye — watch the video

The Purdubik’s Cube robot achieved this in 0.103 seconds and set a Guinness Record

Newsroom May 27 02:08

An incredible Guinness Record was set by a robot that managed to solve the Rubik’s Cube in just 0.103 seconds, a time faster than the eye takes to blink!

The robot named Purdubik’s Cube was built by four American students (Matthew Patrohay, Junpei Ota, Aden Hurd, Alex Berta) at Purdue University.

“We solved (the Rubik’s Cube) in 103 milliseconds. A human eye needs 200 to 300 milliseconds to blink. So before you even realize a move, we already solved it,” explained Patrohay.

The 23-year-old student revealed that he started the effort after seeing the previous record (0.305 seconds). “I watched the video of MIT students who did it in 308 milliseconds, and I thought, ‘That’s a nice project. I’d like to someday break that record.’ Now I’m at Purdue, and we proved we can go faster,” said the 23-year-old about the attempt made on April 21.
