A proposal for a trilateral meeting between him and US and Russian presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin was tabled by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday morning.
At the same time, he denounced that Russia has amassed 50,000 troops on the border with northern Ukraine.
As Sky News reports, Zelensky said the Kremlin’s “strongest forces” are currently on the front line in Kursk, in western Russia, adding that he believes Russia wants a security zone of about six miles.
But he added that Kyiv has taken steps to prevent Moscow from carrying out a large-scale attack in the region.
“Their largest and strongest forces are currently on the Kursk front to repel our forces and prepare offensive actions against the Sumy region,” Zelensky told reporters.
