Authorities in Thessaloniki are closely monitoring the activities of the Turkish criminal gang known as “Daltons.” The investigation points to the imminent arrest of those responsible for shooting at EYP (National Intelligence Service) officials in the city.
Operational Details:
Law enforcement officials are working on mapping the movements of the Dalton gang members operating within Greece. They are attempting to track their various activities, which they conduct recklessly, disregarding the safety of residents and passersby. The police are actively pursuing these leads following the recent attack on EYP agents in Thessaloniki.
Intelligence and Known Facts:
Investigators have identified the identities of the suspects and believe that their arrest is imminent. The notorious group is based in Turkey and is involved in drug trafficking and extortion. Notably, in 2023, six members of this organization were killed during an armed clash in Loutsa.
Recent Operations:
Yesterday, Wednesday (28/5), a police operation was carried out in Thessaloniki resulting in the detention of six individuals—five for drug-related offenses and one in Komotini for possession of ammunition. Authorities are now examining whether the detainees are connected to the shooting incident.
Further Developments:
Sources indicate that police operations will continue, as other Turkish nationals linked to the organization are on the radar. Their activities suggest possible involvement or association with the Dalton gang.
The attack occurred last Tuesday (27/5) in a fuel station in the Thermi area during a covert operation by EYP agents. The agents were surveilling a vehicle carrying three Turkish men.
Shortly before 16:00, the vehicle stopped at a gas station located on the provincial road between Nea Rysio and Vasilika. A passenger exited the vehicle and approached the officers. He looked at them, drew a firearm from behind his waist with calm composure, aimed, and fired multiple shots to hit them — but missed.
Evidence collected:
- Three cartridge casings found at the scene.
- Witnesses reported hearing a total of four gunshots.
Police from the Organized Crime division, which is handling the case, seized security footage from the gas station’s cameras. The footage shows the suspects’ movements in detail. Investigations to locate and apprehend them are ongoing.
The investigation confirms the suspects belong to the “Daltons” gang, which has a significant presence in Turkey, primarily involved in drug trafficking and extortion. Their activities in Greece are currently limited to narcotics.
The authorities are working under high alert, with ongoing efforts to identify and detain other associates linked to this organization.
