The Fire Department was put on alert this morning when parked vehicles went up in flames in Nea Smyrni.

Specifically, a vehicle with a mechanical failure caught fire on Nikolaou Plastira Street, and the flames then spread to four other cars, causing extensive damage.

Eight firefighters with three fire engines responded to the scene.
