Russia has repeatedly communicated to Israel that Iran has no intention of acquiring nuclear weapons, Vladimir Putin in an interview with SkyNews Arabia, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported today.
In the same interview, the Russian president reiterated, that Moscow opposes the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the prospect of Iran acquiring such weapons.
However, Russia supports Iran’s right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, Putin added, stressing that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has found no evidence that Tehran is seeking to build nuclear weapons.
Putin also said Russia is ready to help Iran in developing its civilian nuclear program.
