An emergency weather warning has been issued, with severe thunderstorms and squalls expected to hit parts of northern Greece starting this afternoon. Meanwhile, high temperatures will continue through Friday (June 27, 2025) across the country.
Details:
A. Temperature:
- Today, temperatures will reach 39–41°C in mainland areas and 36–38°C in island regions.
- On Saturday (June 28), temperatures will drop by 2–3 degrees,
- And by Sunday (June 29), highs will range between 32–34°C.
B. Thunderstorms:
- Severe storms are expected from this afternoon in parts of Western and Central Macedonia,
- Expanding to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace by the evening.
- Storm activity is expected to subside by Saturday morning (June 28).
C. Winds:
- Starting Saturday (June 28), winds will gradually strengthen across the country.
- By Sunday (June 29), winds will reach up to 9 Beaufort in the Cyclades, Crete, the Dodecanese, and eastern Aegean islands,
- And up to 8 Beaufort in Evia, Attica, and the eastern Peloponnese.
