The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) of the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed all relevant state services, as well as the Regions and Municipalities of the aforementioned areas, to be on heightened civil protection alert in order to immediately respond to any wildfire incidents.

At the same time, the Secretariat urges citizens to be especially cautious and to avoid any outdoor activities that could cause a fire through negligence, such as burning dry grass or branches, using machinery that produces sparks like circular saws and welding devices, operating outdoor grills, bee smoking, discarding lit cigarettes, etc. It is also reminded that during the fire season, field burning is strictly prohibited.

In case citizens detect a fire, they are urged to immediately notify the Fire Department by calling 199.
