Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation donates diving watches to Special Forces – Mitsotakis reaffirms naval support

The Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation donations are another proof that cooperation between the private and public sectors can lead to a qualitative upgrade of the capabilities of the Armed Forces, the Prime Minister said

Newsroom July 8 11:22

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was at the headquarters of the Special Forces Command of the Navy this morning to attend an event for the donation of diving wristwatches to the personnel of the Navy by the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation.

As the Prime Minister stressed in his statements, “Mr. and Mrs. Laskaridis chose to honor your great contribution with a symbolic watch of the Greek company Ianos, which is available in a limited number. This watch is not circulating in the market, it is a diving watch that is a practical thank you and the donors for the difficult work you are doing.”

On the occasion of this move by the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, Kyriakos Mitsotakis thanked “once again Mr and Mrs Laskaridis for the significant support to the work of the Armed Forces with two state-of-the-art Drones and the cyber security building at the Armed Forces”.

“These two donations are further proof that private and public sector cooperation can lead to a qualitative upgrade of the capabilities of the Armed Forces,” the Prime Minister continued.

He said “the government has supported the Armed Forces and the Navy and because today marks six years since I took the oath of office as Prime Minister, I was well aware of the situation that we have taken over, as a result of a long crisis it has been a long time since investments were made. The Navy, by the end of the year, will welcome the first of probably 4 Belharra’s, which will be the spearhead for the new era of the Navy.”

He noted that “the bow cut of the bow of this first frigate reminded us of the battleship Averoff, which was also a great donation and was identified with the history of the Navy and the creation of modern Greece.”

For his part, the Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral Demetrios-Eleftherios Kataras, stressed that “the men of the submarine disasters are an example for all to follow and with this act the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation shows that its support is continuous.”

“Our cooperation is not occasional and is strengthened year by year, it was built in the field with a common responsibility in our country: you for the defense of national security and we for the protection of the environment,” noted the representative of the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation, Athanasios C. Laskaridis.
