Kristin Cabot, who is currently on leave from her role at the tech company Astronomer following the incident caught on the venue’s “Kiss Cam” with the company’s now-former CEO, Andy Byron, is married to Andrew Cabot—owner of Privateer Rum, according to social media posts.
Andrew Cabot is said to be a sixth-generation owner of the historic rum brand, which was originally founded by his ancestor of the same name. The Cabot family wealth, passed down for generations, was estimated at $200 million in a 1972 New York Times profile—equivalent to about $15.4 billion in 2025.
It is unclear when Kristin and Andrew were married, but it is reportedly the second marriage for both. Kristin finalized a divorce from a previous partner in 2022.
Kristin’s now-deleted LinkedIn profile listed her as a “board advisor” at Privateer Rum starting in September 2020. Property records indicate that the couple purchased a $2.2 million coastal home in New Hampshire earlier this year.
A Family with Deep Roots in Boston
The Cabots are one of the original “Boston Brahmin” families—a term referring to the city’s elite White Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) lineage, historically influential in American industry and education. The family is so well-known in Boston that a local saying goes, “The Cabots speak only to God.”
In the early 19th century, members of the Cabot family were merchants and shipowners, some involved in the transatlantic slave trade. Over time, the family grew its fortune through tobacco—specifically “carbon black,” a substance essential in tire manufacturing—and rum. They have donated significantly to institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, Norwich University, and the Perkins School for the Blind.
Francis Cabot, a New York heir, once remarked that the family’s main interests were “marrying wealthy women and singing in groups.”
The Incident at the Coldplay Concert
A video taken during Coldplay’s concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston on July 16 went viral after it captured a moment between CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot. The “Kiss Cam” cut to the pair embracing, with Byron standing behind Cabot, arms around her waist.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin noticed the image on the screen and commented, “Oh, look at these two.” Byron, who is married, quickly pulled away and ducked behind the railing. Cabot, visibly stunned, covered her face with her hands. The audience laughed, and Martin jokingly added, “Either they’re in love, or they’re very shy.”
According to his LinkedIn, Andy Byron became CEO of Astronomer in July 2023. The company is valued at over $1.3 billion. Kristin Cabot has served as Chief People Officer for the past nine months, describing her role as “earning trust from employees at every level, from CEOs to assistants.”
