Persistently High Temperatures as Heatwave Continues

For yet another day, temperatures across the country will remain at very high levels. The mercury is expected to climb up to 41°C in some areas. During the afternoon, scattered clouds may develop over northern mainland regions, with a slight chance of localized rain in mountainous areas.

According to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the weather will generally be clear. Winds will blow from the west-northwest at 4 to 6 Beaufort. In the east, winds will initially be northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, reaching up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean during the morning. By the afternoon, sea breezes of 3 to 4 Beaufort will prevail, shifting to westerly winds in the southern seas at 4 to 5 Beaufort, increasing to 6 Beaufort in the evening.

Temperatures will gradually drop in western regions but will remain high in the east.

Regional Forecasts

Macedonia and Thrace

  • Weather: Mostly clear, though some afternoon cloudiness is expected over the mountainous areas of western and central Macedonia, with a slight chance of local showers.
  • Winds: Variable, 3 to 4 Beaufort. In eastern areas, easterly-northeasterly winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the morning.
  • Temperature: Ranging from 21°C to 39°C, locally reaching 41°C in central Macedonia. Minimum temperatures in western Macedonia will be 3–4 degrees lower.

Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Mainland, Western Peloponnese

  • Weather: Generally clear with some afternoon cloudiness over the Epirus mountains and a slight chance of brief rain.
  • Winds: Northwestern at 4 to 6 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: From 22°C to 38°C, with island areas reaching up to 35°C.

Thessaly, Eastern Mainland, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese

  • Weather: Clear overall.
  • Winds: Variable at 3 Beaufort. In the morning, northeast winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort in the east, shifting to south-southeast in the afternoon at 4 to 5 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: Between 22°C and 41°C. In the Sporades, up to 35°C.

Cyclades and Crete

  • Weather: Mostly clear.
  • Winds: Northerly to northwesterly at 4 to 5 Beaufort, locally reaching 6 Beaufort in the morning. From midday, winds shift westward at 4 to 5 Beaufort, increasing in the evening to 6 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: Between 26°C and 35°C, reaching up to 37°C in parts of Crete.

Eastern Aegean Islands and Dodecanese

  • Weather: Generally clear.
  • Winds: North-northwesterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, shifting westward from midday at similar intensity.
  • Temperature: Between 26°C and 39°C.

Attica

  • Weather: Clear skies.
  • Winds: North-northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, locally reaching 5 Beaufort in the east during the morning. In the afternoon, winds will shift to south-southeasterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: Between 26°C and 41°C.

Thessaloniki

  • Weather: Clear, with possible light clouds in the afternoon.
  • Winds: Variable at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming south-southeasterly up to 4 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: From 24°C to 39°C.

  • Winds: Westerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally 6 Beaufort in southern seas. In the northeast, winds from the south up to 4 Beaufort.
  • Temperature: Further drop in temperature across the country.

Wednesday, 30 July 2025
Generally clear across most regions. Local clouds will form in the north during the morning and over mountainous areas in the afternoon, possibly bringing light rain. Morning visibility may be limited in the mountainous west.

  • Winds: West-northwesterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort in western and southern seas.
  • Temperature: No significant change.

Thursday, 31 July 2025
Clouds and local showers are expected initially in the north, spreading to other mainland regions throughout the day. Isolated thunderstorms may develop, especially in northern mountainous areas. The rest of the country will see mostly clear weather.

  • Winds: North-northwesterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally 6 Beaufort in coastal areas.
  • Temperature: Stable.
