The “tennis legend” is in Tinos for his summer holidays and expressed to the Prime Minister his desire to venerate the icon of the Virgin Mary.
Top Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis venerated the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary (Panagia Evangelistria) in Tinos on Friday afternoon.
The 37-year-old Serbian athlete, who holds 24 Grand Slam titles, is known for his deep faith and frequently visits monasteries in Montenegro.
While spending his summer holidays in Tinos and before having dinner with Mitsotakis at a local restaurant, the tennis legend expressed his wish to visit the iconic church of Panagia to the Prime Minister.

A few minutes later, dozens of worshippers present at the church witnessed “Nole” and Mr. Mitsotakis waiting in line to light a candle and venerate the revered icon.
It is worth noting that Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena are reportedly considering relocating to Greece, and recently visited schools in the northern suburbs of Athens for their children. Mr. Mitsotakis and Djokovic also had the opportunity to dine together—without their spouses—back in mid-June at the restaurant “Papadakis” in Kolonaki, a frequent dining spot of the Prime Minister.
