A fatal car accident occurred in Kastoria, resulting in the death of two 16-year-olds who were inside the vehicle. The two children, a boy and a girl, died instantly on the asphalt, before EKAB rescuers and the traffic police could arrive at the scene, following a call about the tragic accident.
The deadly crash took place on the Kastoria–Amyntaio national road, shortly before 06:00 on Thursday morning (28.08.2025). The exact causes have not yet been clarified, however, skid marks found on the road indicate that the driver (it is not clear which of the two it was) tried to stop the vehicle before it veered off, broke through a wire fence, and ended up in a field.

The rescue operation was difficult, with five firefighters and two vehicles struggling for quite some time to free the lifeless bodies of the two teenagers from the wreckage. They were then transported to the Kastoria hospital, where their deaths were simply confirmed.
It remains unclear how the minors ended up behind the wheel, having managed to get the car keys. According to information, their families had been searching for them since the previous night.

This accident comes just a few hours after the fatal crash in Pieria, where a 9-year-old girl lost her life, while her 11-year-old sister continues to fight for her life in critical condition.
