US Congressional Committee releases over 33,000 pages of the Epstein case files

The release of these documents comes as the Trump administration is accused of lacking transparency

Newsroom September 3 09:58

More than 33,000 pages of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case were released last Tuesday night by a committee of the House of Representatives after they came into its possession through the U.S. Department of Justice.

The release of these documents, in a flash, via the internet, comes as Republican President Donald Trump’s administration is being accused of a lack of transparency regarding the case of the wealthy, highly-connected New York financier who died in prison in 2019 before being tried for a series of sex-related felonies, the victims of which were particularly minors.

After months of promising his supporters deafening revelations, Donald Trump sees the fire turn to his administration and himself after the Justice Department announced in early July that no new evidence was found to warrant releasing more material from the investigation or opening a new one.

The Republican has ramped up efforts to end the polemic, turning against even some of his base.

Todd Blanch’s former personal lawyer, now a top Justice Department official, questioned his jailed accomplice, Jeffrey Epstein’s onetime partner Gillane Maxwell, in late July. Transcripts of what was discussed were made public in late August.

The death, ruled a suicide by authorities, of Jeffrey Epstein has fuelled countless conspiracy theories: many believe he was murdered to prevent revelations about prominent figures.
