The Greek Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Costa at the Maximos Mansion shortly after 9 a.m., with whom he will later hold joint statements.

In the dialogue they had before the start of the discussions, Mr. Mitsotakis expressed his pleasure at Mr. Costa’s presence in Athens, while the President of the European Council emphasized that “Greece is a very important country for the European Union” and described what the Mitsotakis government has achieved on a macroeconomic level as “impressive and significant.”

“It is a great pleasure to have you in Athens. We have a rich agenda, and the events keep us busy,” said Mr. Mitsotakis, with António Costa initially thanking the Greek Prime Minister “for the wonderful dinner (on Sunday evening) as well as for the opportunity to exchange views.”

“Greece is a very important country in the EU, and you have significant experience on Europe’s southern borders. If I may comment on the macroeconomic picture, what you have accomplished in the country over the past two years is impressive and significant,” added Mr. Costa.
