Murder of Charlie Kirk: Online pro-trans groups under scrutiny – Did they know in advance what would happen?

Authorities are examining Robinson’s ties to the Armed Queers SLC organization and to groups on the Steam gaming platform

Newsroom September 15 01:25

The investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination is taking new dimensions, as U.S. federal authorities are exploring whether online communities supporting trans rights were aware of Tyler Robinson’s deadly plan.

According to the New York Post, authorities are primarily trying to determine whether the perpetrator acted alone or if there were accomplices who either helped him or knew in advance about the attack he was planning against the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA. For this reason, they are investigating Robinson’s connections with online groups and left-leaning and LGBTQ organizations in Utah.

A source cited by the U.S. newspaper stated that the investigation includes groups on the gaming platform Steam, as well as the Armed Queers SLC organization, which deleted its Instagram account immediately after Kirk’s murder.

At the same time, a series of concerning social media posts (whose authenticity has not yet been verified) raise questions about whether isolated individuals knew of Robinson’s murderous plan before it was carried out on September 10.

Armed Queers SLC

As reported by the NYP, the Armed Queers SLC organization, whose logo depicts two bullets similar to those that struck Kirk, had organized a lecture in September 2023 on “queer resistance” at the University of Utah — about 45 miles from Utah Valley University, where the 31-year-old political activist and Trump ally was killed just days ago.

Flyers promoting the event, organized in collaboration with the self-described “leftist student group” Mecha de U of U, depicted a young woman holding ammunition and an AK-47, finger on the trigger.

In an interview last year, a spokesperson for the organization stated that its members consider “commitment to the fight against racism, transphobia, and capitalism far more important than any personal risk.”

Scenarios Regarding the Motive

In recent days, evidence has emerged suggesting that Robinson was influenced by far-left ideologies and various online groups. Sources indicate he had a relationship with a person undergoing gender transition, who is cooperating with authorities. Utah Governor Spencer Cox told CNN that investigators are examining whether this relationship could be related to the motive behind the shocking attack.

Kirk, known for his critical stance on issues such as hormone treatments for minors and the participation of transgender women in sports competitions, was shot in the neck while answering a question about mass attacks committed by transgender individuals. “It is clear to us that the perpetrator is someone deeply influenced by leftist ideology,” Governor Cox said.

Robinson was arrested on September 12 after a 33-hour manhunt. “We got him,” announced former President Donald Trump on television, praising the arrest.

Suspicious Posts

Meanwhile, internet users have highlighted posts that appear to have foreshadowed the murder. In one post, uploaded on September 9, the author wrote: “Charlie Kirk is coming to my college tomorrow, I really hope someone wipes him out.” This was followed by a message saying “something big will happen tomorrow,” accompanied by a meme. After the murder, the same profile wrote: “Kirk was shot, I promise I had nothing to do with it.”

Another video on TikTok, reportedly posted on the eve of the murder, showed a person wearing a medical cap with the text: “Charles James Kirk, who had dropped out of college, doesn’t know what’s waiting for him tomorrow. This is not a threat, it’s a promise.”
