Europe must protect its southern borders in addition to its eastern borders, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during the proceedings of the informal European Council summit in Copenhagen, according to sources, specifically in the context of a discussion on strengthening European defence.

According to the same sources, the Greek prime minister added that “we must take the message from Ukraine” as to the critical importance of new technologies in the field and pointed out that Europe must be at the forefront of technological developments in defence, and must acquire its own production capacity and innovation.

He also stressed that Greece is already making efforts in this direction, with the Hellenic Center for Defence Innovation (ELKAK).
