The man who fatally stabbed a 37-year-old Bulgarian in the abdomen outside a nightclub in Peristeri early Monday morning turned himself in to authorities shortly after 10:30 a.m.
As protothema.gr had reported earlier, the police dragnet was tightening around him, with sources saying that his arrest was only a matter of time.
The same sources described him as a young Greek man under 25 years old, known to the authorities, who worked as “security” (protection) in the same area.
According to the information gathered by investigators, about 15 days before the murder, the suspect had been beaten by the Bulgarian victim and several others.
It was this beating, the same sources said, that motivated the young man to wait for the 37-year-old outside the club in the early hours of Sunday to take revenge.
A video published by protothema.gr shows the first moments after the murder in Peristeri.
It is also noted that the victim had a criminal past, having served a prison sentence in Larissa, and maintained connections both with people inside prisons and with the nightlife scene after his release.
