The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
“80 years ago today, on October 24, 1945, the United Nations Organization was founded with the mission of preserving international peace and security and promoting cooperation among states,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“In today’s volatile and unpredictable international environment, with dozens of conflicts raging worldwide, the full and consistent implementation of the principles of the UN Charter has become more urgent than ever,” it notes.

“Greece, as a founding member state of the UN and an elected member of the Security Council for the period 2025-2026, supports the aims and principles of the Organization, remaining firmly committed to the strict respect of international law and the protection of human rights.”

“We will continue to systematically work together with States around the world to address contemporary global challenges through dialogue and multilateral diplomacy,” it concludes.
