“I am truly shocked by the incident. We had the dog for almost 10 years, I can’t understand what happened,” said the 76-year-old’s son. At the same time, protothema.gr released a new video showing police arriving to assist the elderly man and his transport by the national ambulance service (EKAV).

The incident occurred outdoors, and passersby called the police reporting that a dog had attacked a person. According to the victim’s son, the Rottweiler suddenly attacked his father in the back yard of the family shop. “My father is in the hospital with serious injuries to his left arm, but I believe he will be okay,” he added.

In the video published by protothema.gr, police officers are seen arriving at the yard, as well as EKAV personnel transporting the elderly man on a stretcher.

Earlier, a video from the moment of the attack was released. It shows the owner initially striking the dog, after which the dog attacks, drags him across the yard, and bites him violently.

Police who arrived at the scene tried to free the man from the dog’s jaws, but the dog continued biting him aggressively.

One of the officers, seeing the danger to the man’s life, shot the Rottweiler, killing it instantly.

The incident is under investigation by the relevant police department.
