Mick Jagger: The singer in Greece – Stayed for three days in Chania

The frontman of the Rolling Stones enjoyed a series of private tours of archaeological sites and excavations

Mick Jagger stayed in Chania for three days. The rock legend visited archaeological sites and excavations, showing his great interest in Greek culture.

The 82-year-old Rolling Stones frontman was spotted by zarpanews.gr at the Venetian Harbor, shortly before his departure from the city. He shared his impressions of Crete and also responded to a question about the Elgin Marbles.

The famous singer expressed enthusiasm about Ancient Eleutherna and the Kastelli hill, where he had a private tour on Sunday, November 2nd, saying that everything seemed “particularly interesting” and that he “leaves with the best impressions from Chania and Crete.”

When asked about the Elgin Marbles, he took the opportunity to respond humorously, saying: “They are still there.” When later asked to take a stance regarding their return to Greece, he replied: “I have no opinion.”

According to information, the local Archaeological Service was informed in advance about Mick Jagger’s visit. On Saturday, November 1st, the rock star enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the Basilicas, the Necropolis of Orthi Petra, and the Museum of Ancient Eleutherna, while dining at a traditional tavern in the area.
