Atlantic-See LNG Trade (AKTOR-DEPA) agreement for US LNG signed

The LNG arriving in Greece will be directed through the Vertical Corridor to markets in Southeastern and Central Europe, establishing the country as an energy hub for the transit and trade of natural gas

Newsroom November 7 11:47

An agreement with significant geoeconomic and energy weight was signed on the second day of the Transatlantic Cooperation Conference at Zappeion. Atlantic-See LNG Trade S.A. – a joint venture of AKTOR and DEPA – reached an agreement with the American company Venture Global for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and its distribution in Eastern Europe.

This move strengthens the strategic goal of ensuring energy security and diversifying supply sources for the countries in the region, at a time when Europe continues to seek alternatives to Russian hydrocarbons. The LNG arriving in Greece will be routed via the Vertical Corridor to markets in Southeastern and Central Europe, positioning the country as an energy hub for the transit and trade of natural gas.

Exarchou: Historic agreement for the transfer of American LNG and MOU with Romania and Ukraine

Yesterday (7/11), CEO Alexandros Exarchou, referring to the U.S. strategic choice to use Greece as a hub for the transfer and distribution of LNG to the new vertical European energy corridor, emphasized that from a national perspective, this is one of the most significant developments in recent years.

As he highlighted, this strategy created a unique opportunity, which the Greek government seized immediately and decisively, adding that henceforth Greece will hold a special position on the region’s energy map, as it will be the point from which American natural gas will be channeled into Europe—something that brings substantial political and economic value to the country.

This followed the establishment of Atlantic–See LNG Trade, a joint venture between DEPA Commerce and AKTOR focused on the trade of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the U.S. state development bank, also joining the consortium, as officially announced.
