A large number of visitors from Turkey arrived in Thessaloniki today to mark the 87th anniversary of the death of Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey.

Crowds gathered at the Turkish Consulate, which operates in the building where Atatürk was born. There, the traditional memorial ceremony took place, and many attendees left flowers at the entrance as a tribute.

According to thestival.gr, several tourist buses carrying visitors and pilgrims were parked along Agios Dimitrios Street, leading to heavy traffic in the area.

The building, commonly referred to as “Atatürk’s House,” had been closed since December 2024 due to renovation works. Today, it reopened its doors to the public in honor of the anniversary.
