Panathinaikos – Dubai BC 103-82: Third consecutive win with an amazing second half!

Panathinaikos exploded in the second half to defeat Dubai BC 103-82 at the packed Telekom Center

Panathinaikos – Dubai BC 103-82: Green concert with… maestro Sloukas!

With Kostas Sloukas setting the pace, Jerian Grant returning to top form, and Kenneth Faried being “Manimal,” Panathinaikos exploded in the second half to defeat Dubai BC 103-82 at the packed Telekom Center, securing their third consecutive win.

The Green machines really got rolling after last week’s 2/2 wins in Paris and Madrid!

With a terrifyingly strong second half, Panathinaikos dismantled Dubai BC, scoring relentlessly and reaching their third straight Euroleague win amidst the roar of 18,000 fans. The team from the UAE had held a lead for 25 minutes (56-59), but the rest of the game turned into an offensive monologue for the “Trifylli.”

Kostas Sloukas sparked Panathinaikos’ comeback, Kendrick Nunn “unleashed” in the second half, Jerian Grant was his familiar self, and Kenneth Faried electrified the crowd with spectacular plays.

The Game:

Both teams started with high shooting percentages, with Panathinaikos struggling defensively. Dubai BC, particularly Boogie Ellis (8 points in five minutes), had an excellent start, controlling the pace and leading (14-17 at 6’), while the Greens faced issues with Kendrick Nunn, who had early fouls.

Golemac’s team even reached +6 (16-22), with Ellis scoring half of his team’s points (11). Panathinaikos was further challenged by Osman’s injury at 2:22 before the first quarter ended (25-24), who had been their top scorer with 7 points.

The second quarter mirrored the first as both teams traded leads possession by possession. Kenneth Faried provided highlight-reel plays with four blocks and an all-around strong presence (5 points, 3 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 assists, 1 steal, 12 PIR).

Kostas Sloukas (8 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 steals) kept Panathinaikos afloat when the offense stalled. The team shot well overall (13/19 two-pointers, 4/12 three-pointers, 7/8 free throws, 14-4 rebounds, 12 assists vs. 7 turnovers).

On the Dubai side, Boogie Ellis (15 points) and Mfiondu Kabengele (14 points) were constant threats, with McKinley Wright orchestrating his team with 6 points and 6 assists in the first half (45-48). Despite poor three-point shooting (2/11), Dubai stayed in the game with 16/17 free throws.

Second Half Explosion:

Dubai BC maintained control until the 26th minute, leading 56-59. Panathinaikos then ignited a comeback, with Sloukas driving the offense while Huantso, Grant, and Faried shut down Dubai’s scoring lanes.

Panathinaikos ran a 19-3 run, turning the score to +13 (75-62), completely dominating the Telekom Center. The Green surge reached 29-3, giving them a 24-point lead (85-61) and sealing the game for their third consecutive Euroleague win.

Why They Won:
Exceptional defense in one quarter combined with a 29-3 run turned a -3 deficit (56-59) into +23 (85-62) at the start of the fourth quarter.

Difference Maker:
Kostas Sloukas led the team with 15 points, 4/4 two-pointers, 1/4 three-pointers, 4/4 free throws, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 turnovers in 21 minutes.

Supporting Stars:
Jerian Grant (15 points, 2/2 two-pointers, 3/3 three-pointers, 2/2 free throws), Kendrick Nunn (22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists), Kenneth Faried (9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks).

Could Have Done Better:
Justin Anderson, who was mostly absent on the court.

Top Performer Despite Loss:
Mfiondu Kabengele with 18 points and 5 rebounds.

Quarter Scores: 25-24, 45-48, 75-62, 103-82.
