With a pointed reference to Athens’ steadfast dedication to “international law and respect for states,” Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias used his November 21 post on social media to mark a “double celebration day”: the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, alongside a national tribute to the Armed Forces.

“Under the protection of the supreme General and Protectress, our Armed Forces have etched glorious pages in the history of Greece,” Dendias wrote. “Today, thanks to ‘Agenda 2030,’ we are strengthening our homeland with both a renewed strategic philosophy and modern capabilities — while also investing in human potential, its greatest force multiplier.”
He added, “Happy Birthday to all service members and conscripts! Because of their devotion and sacrifice, Greece safeguards its territorial integrity and sovereign rights.”
