A tragedy occurred in Rhodes as a 19-year-old serving in a national guard battalion lost his life due to a grenade that exploded by mistake. In the same explosion, another soldier was seriously injured and maimed, according to Rodiaki.

At this moment, doctors at the Rhodes hospital are fighting to save the life of the second man who was injured.

The tragedy happened shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, in the Afantou area of Rhodes. Two individuals serving as bomb disposal experts in a unit in central Rhodes attempted to transport weapons and grenades.

According to Rodiaki, the explosion occurred when one of the two accidentally triggered a defensive grenade, causing it to detonate immediately.

The 19-year-old was killed instantly, while the second soldier was seriously injured and maimed.
