The Louvre Museum in Paris announced that it is operating partially today, despite the continuation of the strike voted on Wednesday morning by the general assembly of its employees.

“Not all areas are accessible, but the museum is opening and the first visitors are entering,” the management told Agence France-Presse.

Earlier, around 300 employees, who are striking over issues of understaffing and the deterioration of the museum building, had voted for a second day of strike today, following Monday’s strike.

According to a statement by the CFDT and CGT unions, Louvre employees, who are calling for better working conditions and improved facilities for visitors, voted “unanimously” to continue their strike for a second day today.

“The proposals of the Ministry of Culture were deemed insufficient and unacceptable by the staff,” the CGT said in a post on its Instagram account.

“The opening of the museum is delayed,” and the institution will inform the public “as soon as possible about how it will reopen,” according to a notice for visitors who found the doors closed.
