Alexandra Nika for Gala: “Motherhood at a young age was a conscious decision – Konstantinos is my person”

Alexandra Nika talks about motherhood, Konstantinos Argyros, and the art of elevated loungewear

Newsroom December 26 01:50

The magic of Christmas meets comfort and style through a special collaboration between children’s brand 5226 Kids, founded by Lenia Kritharioti—sister of Silia Kritharioti—and designer Alexandra Nika. The result is a limited-edition loungewear collection that captures the warmth of the holidays and celebrates the beauty of shared family moments at home.

We meet Alexandra Nika at Silia Kritharioti’s atelier to talk about fashion, motherhood, everyday life, and the choices that define her today.

Gala: How did your journey into fashion design begin?

Alexandra Nika: Fashion fascinated me from a very young age. I remember having strong opinions about what I wanted to wear even when I was in kindergarten. As I grew older, my interest deepened—fabrics, textures, combinations, the whole creative process intrigued me. Motherhood played a big role, too. It made me value comfort, quality, and those small, everyday moments at home. From that phase of my life, the idea of creating something simple, functional, and deeply connected to family came very naturally.

Gala: How did the collaboration with 5226 Kids come about?

Alexandra Nika: It was a collaboration based on chemistry and a shared mindset. For me, it was essential that the result felt honest and high-quality. I want anyone who wears a piece from the collection to truly enjoy it and feel comfortable in their everyday life. Personally, I love seeing Konstantinos and Vasilis wearing matching sweatshirts or overalls—it’s incredibly cute and fun. And yes, I definitely enjoy it when we’re all dressed alike at home.

Gala: How do you experience motherhood?

Alexandra Nika: It’s something truly unique. I feel deeply blessed to have my son in my arms. Of course, there are challenges—sleepless nights and fatigue—but his gaze, his first words, and his hugs make me forget everything else.

Gala: What does your daily routine look like now?

Alexandra Nika: My day starts around six in the morning. Most of it revolves around the baby—feeding, walks, playtime. At the same time, we try to find moments to be together as a family and as a couple. I also try to carve out time for myself, for work, exercise, and whatever helps me stay balanced.

Gala: What helps you unwind?

Alexandra Nika: A hot bath and a movie—although I usually fall asleep within the first five minutes. And of course, uninterrupted sleep, which has become a rare luxury lately.

Gala: Tell us a little about your son.

Alexandra Nika: I’m definitely a proud, doting mom. No matter what he does, I find it perfect. I love watching him walk, hearing him say “goal!”, talk like the Minions, laugh at the smallest things. I melt when he holds his blanket, rests his head on me to fall asleep, crawls into bed with us, or dances to Konstantinos’ songs.

Gala: Was becoming a mother at a young age a conscious choice for you?

Alexandra Nika: Absolutely. I knew that Konstantinos was my man and that we wanted to build the family we had dreamed of together. Motherhood changes you profoundly—you become less egocentric, more patient, more resilient. Your heart grows in ways that are hard to describe. You grow alongside your child, see the world through their eyes, and rediscover it all over again.

Gala: How do you like to spend family time?

Alexandra Nika: With play and simple moments at home. What matters most to us is that our child grows up surrounded by love, care, and a calm, stable everyday life.

Gala: Is it difficult being the partner of a famous singer?

Alexandra Nika: Honestly, I don’t experience it that way. Our everyday life is very normal. I feel joy and gratitude for the love people show Konstantinos, because it’s something he gives back through his work. Those who know him well understand how deeply he loves his music.
