Yesterday’s statements by Sergey Lavrov regarding an alleged attempt by Kyiv to attack Vladimir Putin’s residence with drones dominated much of today’s remarks by Dmitry Peskov to journalists on behalf of the Kremlin.
The spokesperson for the Russian president stated that this development will harden Moscow’s position in peace negotiations for Ukraine, and added that the Russian military knows “where, when, and how it will respond.”
When asked about Putin’s location at the time of the alleged attack, he said: “Regarding the president’s location, under current circumstances this matter is not subject to public discussion.”
Furthermore, he described as “crazy” the attempts by the West and Zelensky to label the information about the attack on the Russian president’s residence as “false,” while also mentioning the “channel of honest dialogue” maintained between Trump and Putin. He reiterated that the Ukrainian president is trying to disrupt efforts being made to end the war.
Lavrov’s Statements About the Attempted Attack on Putin’s House in Novgorod
Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Ukraine attempted to strike the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region through a massive drone attack.
According to Lavrov, the attack took place in the early hours of December 29. Lavrov assured that Russia will not leave the Ukrainian drone attack unanswered.
He also emphasized that Moscow’s negotiating stance will be reassessed after the attack on the presidential residence. However, he insisted that Russia does not intend to withdraw from the negotiation process of the peace plan.
According to Russian claims, all drones were intercepted, with no reports of injuries or damage to infrastructure.
“This Is a Lie”
“This is a lie,” stated Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ukrainian president emphasized that Russia wants to undermine the progress achieved between Ukraine and the U.S. in peace talks.
He warned that Russia is preparing the ground to attack government buildings in Kyiv.
Zelensky called on U.S. President Donald Trump to respond accordingly to the Russian threats.
