It’s New Year’s Eve today, and Athens has put on its festive best to welcome 2026. In various parts of the city—from Syntagma to Pedion tou Areos, from Tritsis Park to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center—small and large celebrations will be set up, featuring concerts by well-known artists and other events, all with free admission for the public.
So, if you’re one of those who prefer to welcome the new year outdoors and feel the festive pulse of Athens, you only have to choose one of the following options.

Syntagma
As every year, so this year too, the heart of the celebration will beat strongly in the decorated and brightly lit Syntagma Square. The program prepared by the Municipality of Athens will be hosted by Nikos Moutsinas and Tonia Sotiropoulou and will begin at 10:00 p.m. with festive melodies by the Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra. This will be followed by a concert with successive live performances by Kostis Maravegias and Rena Morfi. Just before midnight, the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, will lead the countdown, while colorful, silent fireworks light up the Attic sky. One of the highlights of the program will be a spectacular drone show.

Pedion tou Areos
Those with more pop-oriented musical tastes may prefer Pedion tou Areos and the celebration organized by the Region of Attica, with special guest Eleni Foureira. She will take the stage at 11:00 p.m. to perform some of her best-known hits, accompanied by ZAF. The New Year’s Eve festivities also include an outdoor party with DJ Bobito’s selections and fireworks.

Tritsis Park
The Region of Attica has also scheduled a second New Year’s Eve celebration this year, to be held at Tritsis Park. One hour before the change of the year, Klavdia and Playmen will take the stage, aiming to keep the party going into the early morning hours.

Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center
For yet another year, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will keep its gates open to the public on New Year’s Eve. In the impressively lit outdoor area, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in the festive event, hosted by Jerome Kaluta, starting at 10:00 p.m., featuring a music program with the young singer-songwriter Alexandra Sieti.
With the arrival of 2026, those who wish can participate in the first marathon of the year, while others will enjoy the music selections of DJ Sunshine Pedro, show off their moves at the large ice rink, or admire the colorful light installations and the impressive dances of the fountains.
