Familiarizing students and teachers with the program, Public Digital Tutoring Centre

What the national campaign for digital education in secondary schools includes - The new circular of the Ministry of Education

Newsroom January 27 01:48

Customized information and familiarization of students and teachers with the Public Digital Tutorial – the newly established digital support institution for students preparing for the Panelladikes-eksetaseis/, introduces the new circular of the Ministry of Education.

The particular importance of the integrated and strategic initiative is highlighted by the fact that the Digital Tutoring is entirely free, provides equal opportunities to all, regardless of financial ability or place of residence, complements school teaching, and helps to better prepare for exams.

What is Public Digital Tutoring

From September 2024, the Public Digital Tutoring Centre will be operating to provide free, quality educational support to all National Exam candidates, regardless of their place of residence, financial situation or special needs.

Specifically, live distance learning (online streaming) is provided for all the national examinations of the 3rd and 4th lyceum courses of the G.E.L., E.P.L., E.A.E. and EN.E.E.G.Y.L. lyceums.

Video-recorded lessons and additional educational material are also available through a digital asynchronous education platform (Moodle).

All lessons are accompanied by sign language interpretation for full accessibility.

The programme operates daily in the evening hours, and aims to ensure equal opportunities for all students on the path to the exams.

The “two main measures”: compulsory hours and educational activities

According to the circular, teachers of the second and third grades of high school (in G.E.L., E.P.L., E.A.E. and EN.E.E.G.L.) should devote at least two (2) teaching hours – within the timetable, in the context of specialization or general education courses – for each class for:

Fully informing students about the content and operation of the Digital Tutorial.

Demonstration and presentation of all digital tools available to the learner, including the Moodle platform.

Watching a lesson or teaching module through the video lessons.

Guided tour of the digital platform, so that students are able to make full use of the system’s capabilities.

This mandatory intervention in the curriculum aims to build students’ digital autonomy and ensure that digital education does not remain just an “add-on tool” but becomes a functional part of exam preparation.

Practical access steps and technical details

The steps required for a student to use the Digital Tutorial are as follows:

Registration of all students in the respective classes on the Moodle and Live Streaming platforms using the codes of the Panhellenic School Network (PSN).

Logging in to the live broadcasts from the streaming website.

Selecting a class and lesson from the platform interface.

The video lessons are approximately 100 minutes long and are organized in two 45-minute sections, with a break.

Regarding the pedagogical use, the material of the Digital Tutorial can be used for repetition, for differentiated teaching, in the context of pedagogical practices such as the flipped classroom.

Role of principals and information for graduates

School principals are required to inform and support:

Students who have graduated and are participating in the 2026 National Examinations to have access to digital materials and to ensure that all have the necessary PSD codes for access.

Deadlines and administrative obligations

School units are requested to send written notification to their respective Secondary Education Directorates for the implementation of the actions by 12 February 2026.

The importance of digital empowerment in education

A strategic digital empowerment campaign for students and teachers, leveraging digital infrastructure, has now been institutionalized by the Ministry of Education to enhance access to knowledge and reduce disparities in educational preparation.
