Severe Weather to Sweep Greece Today

Greece braces for a short but intense bout of severe weather today, as the National Meteorological Service (EMY) issues an extraordinary bulletin warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and gale-force winds across the country.
Athens in the Storm’s Path
Meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas forecasts that Athens and Attica will experience afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with the cold front expected to reach the capital after 7 p.m. Kolydas shared hourly weather developments on social media, noting that the front is already impacting western Greece.

The severe weather warning, issued Thursday at noon, predicts heavy showers, thunderstorms, and possible hail from early Friday until Saturday afternoon. The storm will first hit northwestern Greece before spreading to western regions, northeastern mainland, and the eastern Aegean.

Early morning to afternoon: Remaining Ionian Sea and western Central Greece
