At the same time, Clean Monday, 23 February 2026, was characterized by strengthened northerly winds in the Aegean and Crete, with the maximum gust reaching 108 km/h at the port of Tinos.

“The meteorologists’ Halcyon Days”

In a post, Kolydas notes that “the atmosphere seems inclined to lower the tone over the next two weeks.” As he points out, after a three-month period marked by continuous disturbances, low-pressure systems, and sharp fluctuations, forecast data are converging toward a calmer interval.

This break, he says, could be described as “the meteorologists’ Halcyon Days,” not only due to the easing of weather phenomena but also because forecasters themselves will get “a small breather from constant operational intensity.”

Strong northerly winds up to 108 km/h

Despite the overall trend toward stabilization, Clean Monday was accompanied by strengthened northerly winds in the central and southern Aegean and in Crete, while winds were weaker across the rest of the country.

According to the network of automatic weather stations of meteo.gr / National Observatory of Athens, the strongest gust recorded by 17:00 occurred at the port of Tinos, reaching 108 km/h.
