Lazaridis on Dendias: ‘We should all be very careful with our statements so as not to pour water into the mill of introversion’

As “common sense” he described what he said on Tuesday about Nikos Dendias the parliamentary representative of the New Democracy, Makarios Lazaridis, stressing in his statements today that “we should all be very careful that statements that can sometimes even be misinterpreted do not pour water into the mill of an introversion that leads nowhere”.

“What I said is common sense; I said that when we are first class executives and we are fighting for something, for that to happen there are problems. When there are problems and you are a first-class executive, before you say them in public, you have discussed them in the institutions and you have done your self-criticism,” he told SKAI.

He claimed that “there is no grumbling. Mr. Dendias said a word more” and added that “for me, 3 is not a reason in front of the rates of the Southwest, if it is a little to ask Mr. Dendias. Six months before May 2023, ND was polling at the percentages it is today and then he put 4 ahead.”

Regarding Dendia’s references to the DNA of the New Democracy party, Lazaridis said “I have been in this party since 1984 so I know the DNA very well and I know the internal issues of ND very well. The DNA and the relationship that exists between ND and those who support the party over time is stronger than ever, it has not changed at all. On the contrary, it has been strengthened especially in the area of foreign policy and defence and beyond. The most important thing for us is: in a year or so we will have national elections. The goal of all of us should be to complete the government’s program, vision and plan for 2030 when the Greek state will be 200 years old. Our main goal should be a battle, a victory in order to have a third 4-year term, which I think is very important for our country and our children.”

“At the end of the day we will all be judged, each one in the thematic field he has undertaken and the result we will bring to the Southwest,” Lazaridis added.

Asked, finally, about any succession process in the New Democracy, he replied that “it is legitimate whoever wants to have ambitions, my personal opinion and not only is that the battle of succession is still too late in New Democracy”
