“The Waltz of Lost Dreams”: The viral song taking over TikTok and the unique performance by Panos Katsimichas’ daughter

“The Waltz of Lost Dreams” has been moving social media users, with lyrics by Alkis Alkaios and the voice of Mariana Katsimicha giving the song a distinctive emotional color

A song filled with strong emotional intensity has managed in recent days to become extremely popular on social media, with TikTok playing a key role in its spread. “The Waltz of Lost Dreams” is appearing more and more frequently in users’ videos, creating a trend filled with nostalgia and personal memories.

The piece stands out for its melody and the poetic lyrics of Alkis Alkaios, the renowned poet whose work has left a major mark on Greek music. His lyrics were set to music by Dimitris Karras, creating a song that combines lyricism with a deeply emotional atmosphere.

Particularly striking is the interpretation by Mariana Katsimicha, who gives the song a sensitive and introspective dimension. The piece was presented in two different versions on the radio stations Melodia 99.2 and Ellinikos 93.2.

In the first version, the voice of Mariana Katsimicha is heard, while the second features both her and Dimitris Bakoulis. Both versions attracted the public’s interest and quickly began circulating on social media.

A Nostalgic TikTok Trend

On TikTok, the song is often used in videos connected with memories, personal moments, or emotional stories. Its atmospheric mood seems to have touched many users, who choose it as a musical “background” for the stories they share—proving once again that good music always finds a way to stand out and resonate with audiences.

Mariana Katsimicha

Mariana Katsimicha grew up in an environment where music played a central role. Her father is songwriter Panos Katsimichas, while her uncle is Haris Katsimichas—together known as Katsimiha Brothers, who are closely associated with an entire era of Greek music.

Although she studied to become a kindergarten teacher, she ultimately did not pursue that profession, as music had always been her main passion. From a young age she began writing lyrics and setting them to music. As she has mentioned in interviews, she was already writing down her thoughts and turning them into songs by the age of 16.

Speaking about her father, she has emphasized that for her he is first and foremost her father, not simply a well-known artist. As she grew older, she came to better understand the significance of his work, but she never felt the need to rely on his name for her own career.
