The Iranian regime counts another loss today, as it was announced that Ali Mohammad Naini, the spokesperson for the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), has died.

Naini, who, according to the IRGC statement, “served the Islamic Revolution for more than four decades,” had been the official spokesperson for the IRGC since July 2024.

The Revolutionary Guards reported that Naini was killed in a “cowardly U.S.-Zionist terrorist attack in the early hours of Friday, the last day of the holy month of Ramadan.”

Naini also had close ties with Imam Hossein University in Tehran, the academic institution of the Revolutionary Guards, where officers are trained in defense sciences, strategic command, and the ideology of the Islamic Revolution.

After February 28, when the war between Israel and the U.S. against Iran began, Naini took on the role of conveying the Revolutionary Guards’ positions: that Tehran could withstand a prolonged conflict, that its missile and drone capabilities, though damaged, remained sufficient for retaliation, and that strikes on energy infrastructure or political targets would trigger corresponding attacks on American and Israeli targets in the region.

Naini’s death indicates that the U.S. and Israeli targets continue to focus on members of Iran’s command structure, while also creating a communications gap at a critical moment, when Tehran needs to maintain public morale and control the narrative of the war.
