A serious incident occurred yesterday afternoon, around 7:30 p.m. on Holy Saturday, on Akti Miaouli in Piraeus, when two young individuals riding an electric scooter threw a firecracker at a bus operating the Keratsini–Piraeus route.
On board the bus were police officers from the Ariadne unit, which conducts checks and patrols on public transport to combat delinquency.
The officers reacted immediately, tracked down the two individuals a short distance away, and arrested one of them, a 15-year-old born in 2011.
The second individual managed to escape and is being sought. Additional firecrackers, fireworks and incendiary devices were found in the possession of the 15-year-old.
Police sources say the incident is serious as the incendiary devices were probably given to the teenagers by other older people with the relevant know-how, something that implies that the case could be related with terrorism.
The incident caused panic among the bus passengers, although no injuries were reported.
