The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) has issued further clarifications regarding the recall of feta cheese following the detection of the pathogen Listeria monocytogenes, noting that the affected batch includes not only bulk products but also pre-packaged items.
According to EFET, the product marketed as “FETA VYTINAS – PDO BARREL,” batch number 24/07/2027 (FE-2751), with a use-by date of July 24, 2027 and production date of January 24, 2026, has been distributed on the market both in bulk (barrel) form and in vacuum-sealed packages of various sizes (indicatively 0.5 kg, 1 kg, and 3 kg) through multiple retail and wholesale outlets.
Given that in bulk sales it may not be possible for consumers to identify the batch, EFET urges anyone who has purchased the product under this name not to consume it and to contact the point of purchase.
Consumers who have bought the product in pre-packaged form are advised to carefully check labeling details and, if they match the recalled batch, refrain from consumption.
EFET has already mandated the immediate withdrawal of the entire batch, while relevant inspections are ongoing.
