Greek government launches price reduction initiative covering 1,740 products
The scheme, which runs until December, covers 875 branded codes, 405 school items, 360 private label products and 100 meat codes, with branded discounts reaching 44 percent once supermarket reductions are added at some chains

Consumers who have purchased the product in pre-packaged form are advised to check the labelling and if the information is consistent with the recalled batch, not to consume it

The fact that the stores have an electronic price checker system and the products are barcoded does not exempt the businessman from the obligation to have a price tag on the products sold - The fine is constitutional and legal and is in the public interest for the protection of the consumer
