The Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) hosted its 2026 AHEPA National Banquet on Wednesday, May 13, at the historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington, bringing together prominent members of the Greek-American community, diplomats, lawmakers and distinguished guests.
The evening was hosted by FOX News Chief Washington Correspondent Mike Emanuel, who served as master of ceremonies. Among the notable attendees were Greek Ambassador to the United States Antonis Alexandridis, Cypriot Ambassador to the United States Evangelos Savva, as well as U.S. lawmakers Gus Bilirakis, Ryan Mackenzie, Thomas Suozzi and Nicole Malliotakis.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 AHEPA Pericles Award to Congresswoman Grace Meng, introduced and honored by Congresswoman Dina Titus.
Retired Colonel Nicholas P. Vamvakias received the inaugural Dilboy Veterans Committee Award, emphasizing the importance of veterans within the AHEPA family. Members of the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena also participated in honoring more than 30 veterans in attendance with the AHEPA Medal for Military Service.
Additional honors included the 2026 Academy of Achievement Award in Civics and Philanthropy, presented to Dan Mariaschin, the retiring CEO of B’nai B’rith International.
Meanwhile, Paulette Poulos, retiring Executive Director of Leadership 100, received the 2026 Daughters of Penelope Spirit Award.
Founded in 1922, AHEPA has long promoted civic engagement, education and community service both in the United States and internationally. Since 1927, the organization has also recognized individuals dedicated to public service and leadership.
