For today, Wednesday, May 20, light rain is expected until midday across the Aegean islands, while temporary showers will gradually develop over mainland areas, mainly in mountainous regions.
Maximum temperatures will reach:
- 26°C in central and northern mainland Greece
- 22°C in Crete and the Dodecanese
During the evening, temperatures in lowland areas are not expected to fall below 15°C.
Northwesterly winds will reach:
- 6 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea
- 7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea
Weather in Athens and Thessaloniki
In Athens, light rain is possible after midday. Northwesterly winds will blow at up to 5 Beaufort, while temperatures will range from 15°C to 25°C.
In Thessaloniki, cloud cover is expected with a slight chance of light midday drizzle. The “Vardaris” wind will blow at up to 5 Beaufort in the Thermaic Gulf, while temperatures may reach 26°C.
Weather for the rest of the week
For the remaining days of the week, unstable weather conditions will persist and may become more intense in some areas.
Hailstorms are possible, while thunderstorm activity is also expected to increase.
Temperatures will remain close to seasonal averages, and winds are not expected to cause problems for maritime transport.
