The event titled “Cadastre: From a decades-long pending issue to a new era of transparency, speed, and security” is currently underway, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in attendance.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence and the Hellenic Cadastre at the Athens Conservatoire.
The panel is moderated by journalist Apostolos Maggiriadis.
The first speaker was Thanos Lipas, President of the Hellenic Cadastre. In his brief address, he stated, among other things: “No project of such scale can move forward without political will […]. The completion of the cadastre concerns not only the present, but also future generations.”
He was followed by Olympia Markellou, Director General of the Hellenic Cadastre, who presented the results of the cadastre’s digitization. She emphasized that pending cases have been reduced dramatically and that long-standing backlogs affecting citizens and professionals have been significantly eased.
“The Cadastre is now moving from announcements to the phase of completion and productive operation […]. The Cadastre is a national pending issue that is being resolved, a major reform that is becoming a reality,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis in his remarks.
Next, Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou stated:
“This is a historic reform addressing a long-standing deficiency. In the case of the Cadastre, we did not merely reach the European average—we surpassed it. In the modern era of artificial intelligence, there is no time for inertia. We must move forward quickly.”
