Police circles describe the case of the death of the 50-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son in Aigio as one requiring careful and delicate handling.
The 65-year-old Italian partner of the mother, against whom charges of intentional homicide in series have been filed, remains the main suspect in the double murder. However, the case appears far from simple, both in terms of resolution and full clarification of what happened.
“The Italian is not present on any piece of evidence”
According to exclusive information from protothema.gr, the forensic report from the Hellenic Police criminal laboratories is nearly completed, and reliable sources note that there is no trace of DNA or fingerprints of the Italian suspect on any of the collected evidence submitted for examination.
On the contrary, only the son’s DNA was found under the mother’s fingernails, while on the weapon used in the shooting of the 26-year-old, genetic material belonging to the 50-year-old mother, her son, and a third unknown person was identified—who is in no case the Italian defendant. It is also notable that no blood was detected in any other part of the house except the room where the incident took place.
What happened in the family home?
Given that the Italian was not detected on any of the dozens of pieces of evidence, investigators are still focusing on how the mother and son were found stabbed and dead in the room where the 26-year-old was sleeping.
At the same time, attention will also be given to the reason the 26-year-old son had returned to the family home in Longos, Aigio, combined with the defendant’s claim regarding mental health issues within the household. Was it a routine visit to his mother’s home in the village, or did he go there intending to carry out a difficult decision regarding his mother? Statements from people close to the 26-year-old, as well as the totality of the evidence examined, may lead to a reversal no one initially expected.
