Fast Ferries and Golden Star Ferries have proceeded with the cancellation of their scheduled sailings for Friday, July 3, due to the 24-hour strike announced by the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Navy Sailors (P.E.N.E.N.) at the port of Rafina.

Both companies informed port authorities and central ticket agencies that the affected routes will not be operated, while passengers are being notified through customer service channels regarding alternative arrangements.

The development comes despite a pending court ruling on injunction measures seeking to declare the strike illegal and abusive. For the time being, ferry operators are planning on the assumption that the industrial action will go ahead as scheduled.

Cancelled Fast Ferries routes

The company announced that the following sailings will not take place:

  • Both sailings of Fast Ferries Andros between Rafina – Andros – Tinos – Mykonos
  • The Aikaterini P. route from Rafina to Paros – Naxos – Mykonos – Tinos and return

Cancelled Golden Star Ferries routes

The following services are also cancelled:

  • Superferry route from Rafina to Tinos – Mykonos – Naxos – Paros and return
  • Morning and evening sailings of Andros King
  • Golden Princess high-speed service to Tinos – Mykonos – Paros – Ios – Santorini and return
  • Afternoon sailing of Andros Queen from Rafina to Andros – Tinos – Mykonos and return

Passengers are advised to contact local ticket agencies and company service centers for information regarding ticket changes or replacements.

Earlier in the day, a meeting initiated by P.E.N.E.N. between the union’s president, Antonis Ntalakogeorgos, and the head of SeaJets, Marios Iliopoulos, ended without agreement, focusing on labor issues affecting crew members on vessels operating from Rafina.

According to a statement by P.E.N.E.N., the union presented its demands and concerns regarding working conditions aboard the ships. It emphasized that the dispute relates strictly to labor issues and is not connected to broader business or institutional conflicts.

The union also confirmed it rejected a proposal to suspend or postpone the planned strike, insisting on its right to proceed with industrial action.

The meeting concluded without a common position being reached. P.E.N.E.N. has called on its members and crews operating from Rafina to remain on standby ahead of further union actions.

Seajets has not yet issued a public statement regarding the meeting or the positions raised during the discussions.
