For quite some time there had been rumors suggesting that Giannis Antetokounmpo would leave the Milwaukee Bucks.
Eventually, on 23/6, Shams Charania dropped the “bomb” and reported that the “Deer” would send the Greek star and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez, Kasparas Jakučionis, 3 first-round picks, 1 pick swap, and 1 second-round pick.
Now, the trade has become official, with the Heat announcing the acquisition of the “Greek Freak.”
Thus, after 13 years, his chapter with the Bucks has come to an end.
Giannis led the “Deer” to the championship in 2021 as well as the NBA Cup in 2024.
On a personal level, he was named Finals MVP in 2021, a two-time league MVP (2019–2020), NBA Cup MVP (2024), a 10-time All-Star (2017–2026), All-Star Game MVP in 2021, was named to the All-NBA First Team seven times (2019–2025) and the Second Team twice (2017, 2018).
He was also named Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, made the All-Defensive First Team four times (2019–2022) and the All-Defensive Second Team once (2017). In addition, he was voted Most Improved Player in 2017 and was on the All-Rookie Second Team in 2014.
Finally, it is worth noting that he was also a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
