The Sweet Summer Sun Festival returns on Saturday, July 18, 2026, to Technopolis City of Athens, inviting blues fans to an evening of international and Greek live performances.
Headlining this year’s festival is internationally renowned guitarist and singer Eric Gales, widely regarded as one of the leading figures of the contemporary blues-rock scene. Known for his explosive stage presence and distinctive guitar style, the American musician is expected to be the highlight of the festival.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Gales was considered a guitar prodigy, signing his first record deal at just 15 years old and releasing his debut album at the age of 16. His technique—shaped by the playing style of his older brothers—is instantly recognisable, as he plays a right-handed guitar upside down, creating his signature sound. Throughout his career, he has released more than 20 albums, collaborated with legendary artists including Joe Bonamassa, Buddy Guy, and Carlos Santana, and is widely regarded as one of the finest guitarists of his generation.
The lineup also features three acclaimed Greek bands representing different styles of blues music: Tassos Skouras & Nukeleus, the Babis Tyropoulos Quartet, and the Sakis Dovolis Trio.
This year’s Sweet Summer Sun Festival aims once again to bring together blues enthusiasts by combining internationally renowned performers with the vibrant Greek blues scene. Organisers promise an evening filled with authentic blues, powerful emotions and outstanding live performances at one of Athens’ most iconic cultural venues.
