The president of the “Voice of Reason” party, Afroditi Latinopoulou, launched another attack on the government, referring to the marriage of same-sex couples as a “betrayal”, while describing Kyriakos Mitsotakis as “the most woke prime minister of all time”.
Initially referring to the OPEKEPE case and yesterday’s announcement by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, which closed files concerning nine New Democracy MPs but brought misdemeanor-level charges against four others, she told Action 24, among other things, that “we are talking about the audacity of the century for Mitsotakis to demand that we apologise for OPEKEPE”.
“There are no dead ends, there are well-wishers”
Regarding the fact that she will not support the government if it fails to secure an outright majority in the upcoming elections, she said:
“I am not the only one. Tens of thousands have left New Democracy. And this was before the vote on same-sex marriage, which was the ultimate betrayal of New Democracy’s voters, who believed in certain values and principles, and Mr Mitsotakis simply ignored them. Small and medium-sized business owners have moved away, feeling the pressure tightening around their necks, as have many young people. We will call things by their proper names. We will propose reducing the size of the cabinet by at least 50%. Nobody is talking about reducing the number of MPs from 300 to 200. There are no dead ends. There are well-wishers. There is Velopoulos, who at every difficult moment, like a loyal little puppy, will go over there. Open [the records] and see how many bills he has voted for and how many times he has covered for him. Every time Mr Mitsotakis needs protection, Mr Velopoulos goes there, and every time Mr Velopoulos needs protection, Mr Mitsotakis goes there.”
Regarding why she will say “no” to New Democracy, she noted:
“There is a huge gap between us and the principles and values of New Democracy. Kyriakos Mitsotakis has now transformed the entire party and turned it into something like Potami-PASOK, something along those lines. He has moved it further towards the centre-left. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is the most woke prime minister of all time. It was not Mr Tsipras who introduced the law on same-sex couples, nor same-sex marriage, nor did he triple the number of migrant legalisations.”
