A video captures, frame by frame, the moment when the two vessels—the passenger ferry ELYROS and the RoRo cargo ship Iosif K.—collided inside the port of Souda in Crete.

It was the moment when ELYROS was departing to operate its daily route to Piraeus, carrying 100 passengers, 32 cars, and 74 trucks. At the same time, the cargo vessel, carrying 84 trucks, was maneuvering to dock at the port.

The video captures the shocking seconds when the two ships collided inside the port of Souda. A maritime accident, which fortunately did not take a more serious turn, occurred at the port of Souda this morning, when the two vessels—the passenger ferry ELYROS and the RoRo cargo ship Iosif K.—collided inside the harbor.

The footage shows the seconds in which one vessel approaches the other at extremely close range, with the collision ultimately proving unavoidable.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision, and no marine pollution was caused. The RoRo cargo ship docked at the port in the presence of port authorities, who are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.

Both vessels were prohibited from departing until they had undergone inspections and seaworthiness certificates had been issued by the classification society.
