A U.S. Secret Service agent who was part of the security team for J. D. Vance, has been placed on administrative leave as he is at the center of an internal investigation into the alleged leak of confidential information regarding the travel itinerary of the vice president to a media outlet.

According to sources familiar with the case cited by CNN, U.S. authorities have identified an individual believed to have provided information about Vance’s travel and security arrangements. The investigation is being conducted by the Internal Affairs Division of the Secret Service, though it is not yet known whether disciplinary sanctions will be imposed or if criminal charges will be filed.

The agent is reportedly the source of a recent MS NOW article, which reported that members of the vice president’s security team were expressing dissatisfaction with the burden caused by Vance’s personal travel schedule. The same report also included details about a planned trip he was to take with his son, via a Marine Corps helicopter, to a golf lesson—a trip that ultimately did not take place.
