The Thessaloniki Metro extension to Kalamaria opened to the public at 3:00 p.m. today, adding five new stations to the network.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis officially inaugurated the extension, which includes 4.8 kilometers of underground track and connects eastern Thessaloniki with the city center.

Passengers can now use the stations “Nomarchia,” “Kalamaria,” “Aretsou,” “Nea Krini,” and “Mikra.”

At the same time, the Metro has returned to its full operating schedule: Monday through Thursday and Sunday, 5:15 a.m.–12:30 a.m., and Friday and Saturday, 5:15 a.m.–2:00 a.m.

On the shared section of the line, between “New Railway Station” and “25is Martiou,” trains will run approximately every three minutes, while the interval on the Kalamaria branch will be about 4.5 minutes.

The journey from “Mikra” to “New Railway Station” is estimated to take 24–26 minutes, while the trip from Kalamaria to the city center will take less than 20 minutes.
