Police investigating the circumstances surrounding Giorgos Mazonakis’s death now have a detailed digital timeline of the plasmapheresis machine’s operation. The data shed light on the critical actions from the beginning of the preparation through the system’s successive warnings.
According to the Hellenic Police investigation and information from protothema.gr, the machine was activated at 2:14 p.m., although the blood-exchange procedure involving the patient had not yet begun at that time. It is noted that, according to evidence in the possession of the Hellenic Police—including the testimony of the taxi driver who transported the singer—Giorgos Mazonakis appears to have entered the medical office between 1:50 and 2:00 p.m.
Nine minutes after the machine was activated, the system recorded its first alarm. According to the investigators’ assessment of the data, this indication could have been associated either with a problem in the tubing, such as a kink in one of the tubes, or with a change in the patient’s blood pressure.
The actual start of the procedure—that is, the blood exchange—is recorded at 2:37 p.m. From that point onward begins the most critical part of the timeline.
